The Plymouth-Canton Community Schools is seeking input from the community to revise the District Mission and Vision statements. The current statements read as follows:

District Mission
The Plymouth-Canton Community Schools district, in partnership with the community, is dedicated to providing educational opportunities for each student to achieve personal excellence and to become a productive contributing citizen.
District Vision
As a public educational institution, the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools district will lead our state in educating students to thrive in a complex global community.

The proposed revised statements are:

District Mission
P-CCS will provide an educational experience which enables each student to achieve personal excellence.

District Vision
We will develop capable, involved citizens who use critical thinking skills and aspire to be lifelong learners… We envision:

♦ … culturally relevant inclusive learning environments where high academic achievement is expected and supported for all students
♦ … a comprehensive program from which our students will graduate with the skills necessary to be a contributing member in a global society
♦ … an educational program that promotes civic responsibility and leadership
♦ … families and community members as essential partners in supporting academic achievement and promoting a positive learning environment
♦ … staff that values academic excellence, providing a safe and nurturing learning environment for each student
♦ … a culture of fiscal responsibility; managing district resources based on what is best for students
♦ … facilities that provide an optimal educational environment.
 

District Beliefs
o ... we have a shared responsibility with the community to provide an educational environment that supports the success of each student.
o … all voices, experiences, opinions and cultures within our community must be respected.
o … excellence requires commitment to adaptability, flexibility and openness to new ideas.
o … a variety of learning opportunities are critical in meeting each student’s unique needs.
o … students must be effectively taught and held to high expectations.
o … we must support instructional beliefs and strategies that promote equity for all students.
